Primulina sichuanensis var. pinnatipartita (Gesneriaceae), a remarkable new variety from Chongqing, China

Abstract

Here, we describe and illustrate Primulina sichuanensis var. pinnatipartita, a new variety from southwestern China. This new variety is primarily distinguished from the type variety, P. sichuanensis var. sichuanensis, by its pinnatipartite leaf blade, a rare character in the genus Primulina. We show the morphological features of this new variety with illustrations and photographs. (Note: There are four species having big flowers and pinnatipartite leaf blades, simultaneously, namely P. pinnata (W. T.Wang)Y. Z.Wang, P. pinnatifida (Hand.-Mazz.) Y. Z. Wang, P. cardaminifolia Yan Liu & W.B. Xu and this new variety. GCCC collects all four species/variety. We will show them at the same time in the near future.)
