May 22th, 2020 Annual Checklist of CoL-China is release online, which is funded by CASEarth of the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences hosted by Biodiversity Committee, CAS. Compared to 2019 Annual Checklist of CoL-China which include 106509 taxa (94260 species, 12249 infraspecific taxa), 2020 Annual Checklist of CoL-China contains 122280 taxa (110231 species, 12049 infraspecific taxa), species were increased by 15971. The update of this checklist further shows the charm of China, as a major country of biological species resources, to the world.

Oreocharis tetrapterus F.Wen, B.Pan & T.V.Do (Fig. 1) published by Gesneriad Conservation Center of China (GCCC), as Primulina davidioides F. Wen & Xin Hong (Fig. 2) appear on the cover page of Annual Checklist of CoL-China as representative species of vascular plants in 2020 and 2019. It highlights high biodiversity and achievements by researchers of Gesneriaceae in China.

Guangxi is located in biodiversity hotspot areas of Southwest China-Indochina Peninsula with high biodiversity. Oreocharis tetrapterus F.Wen, B.Pan & T.V.Do is only found in Mt. Gupo National Forest Park, and known populations contains ca. 50 individuals, which accessed as Critically Endangered (CR) following the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.

Gesneriad Conservation Center of China (GCCC) is founded in Guilin Botanical Garden, CAS & Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. GCCC now has four subcenters located in Shanghai Botanical Garden, Fairylake Botanical Garden, Shenzhen & CAS, Guizhou Botanical Garden and Anhui University. Since officially established in 2014, GCCC obtained 7 National, Provincial and Ministerial level scientific research projects, published over 50 new taxa and 56 papers. Scientific research achievements of GCCC was once awarded as Provincial Natural Science Award. 48 new cultivars of Primulina Hance and Petrocodon Hance hybridized and selected by GCCC have registered internationally. GCCC is devoted to the investigation, collection, evaluation of endangered categories, conservation and sustainable use of gesneriad germplasm resources in China.

The discovery and publication of these beautiful endangered plant, Oreocharis tetrapterus and Primulina davidioides, was funded by Science and Technology Service Network Initiative, CAS (KFJ-1W-No1、KFJ-3W-No1) and Guangxi Key Laboratory of Plant Conservation and Restoration Ecology in Karst Terrain.
