Petrocodon urceolatus F. Wen, H.F. Cen & L.F. Fu, a new species of Gesneriaceae, is described and illustrated from Zhangjiajie city, Hunan Province, China. Morphologically it resembles P. scopulorum (Chun) Y.Z. Wang in the corolla, but differs in several characters including the shape, length and indumentum of the leaf blade, and the length and indumentums of the stamens and staminode. In addition to morphological description, we provide ecological information, geographic distribution and conservation status for this species.
